Google announces Chrome Web Store for Web Applications
Chrome Web Store will feature both free and paid web apps and is much similar to Android Apps Market where developers can post their applications and earn money for each sale through Google’s secure payment gateway. Google has said the Chrome Web Store will support many operating systems like its own Chrome OS, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Google has said because of the standard development engine used in chrome, the apps developed for Chrome Web Store will also work for other web browsers in addition to Chrome. Google also said that Chrome Web Store is global store supporting 40 languages for 70 countries.
Some of the applications which featured at the event’s live demos included Dark Room for image editing, Plants vs. Zombies and Lego Star Wars in addition to Sports Illustrated interactive magazine which showcased slideshows, videos, live scores and more.
Though Chrome Web Store will be available later this year, App developers can begin developing their apps from now itself with the help of documentation provided by Google.
