nvidialogo sb NVIDIA next generation processor, Tegra 2 to Power Tablets in 2010NVIDIA is soon to unveil its second generation Tegra mobile web processor called Tegra 2 that was exhibited at CES 2010 recently is specifically designed to power the new generation of tablets, slates, smartbooks, e-readers, Internet TV boxes, automotive safety and entertainment solutions. The new Tegra 2 offers high capability and more performance to the SOC platform.

The new Tegra SOC is powered with a 1GHz Dual-core ARM Cortex -A9 MPCore Processor, has a 32-bit LP-DDR2, Ultra Low Power NVIDIA Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) for high end graphics support to 1080p video and 3D gaming while the processor consumes only 500mW of power and delivers over 140 hours audio along with over 16 hours of HD video playback.

The Tegra 2 supports multi-standard audio formats such as AAC, AMR, WMA and MP3 with up to 12 megapixel camera sensor support. The reports say that, there will be a huge market for this processor in the tablet market and every top computer makers like Dell, MSI and Foxconn would use the new Tegra SOC this year in their tablets.
