Nokia counter attacks Apple’s ‘largest mobile devices company’ claim
The fight for number one spot is on between Apple and Nokia. During the iPad keynote, Steve Jobs has claimed that the Apple is the top in the mobile device rankings. He says that the Apple is the largest mobile devices company in the world and adds the company is also top in MacBooks as well. The statement made by the executive doesn’t keep quiet and adds fuel to the fire in this competitive world as it indirectly points over the companies that produce the same devices.
In responding to the above statement, Mark Squires, the company’s head of social media communications adds on Nokia’s official blog stating that Nokia is ahead of others in both cellphones and smartphones. Adding proof to his statement he asks the end users to look at the turnover of the two companies, whereas Apple’s turnover between October and December 2009 was €7.25bn (using their own definition of mobile devices), while the Nokia’s turnover was €8.18bn for the same period.
Nokia chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo claims, “We continue to be the biggest mobile company by far”.
