As we all know, Sony PS3 250GB is scheduled to launch in Japan on February 18 and they are planning to release a new digital TV tuner peripheral after a little gap to add to the console  to watch digital terrestrial TV broadcasts on their PS3. The TV tuner concept is just a replica of the PlayTV peripheral that is launched long back in Europe in 2008 which provides the same digital TV recording/time-shifting for European broadcasts. The TV tuner offers PVR functionality which allows you to record the content either to the PS3’s 250GB hard drive or to a connected USB 2.0 drive.

The recorded show using the new on-screen GUI displays all the available channels and the show can be loaded onto a Memory Stick Micro M2 or Memory Stick Pro Duo. Watch the recorded show by slotting it into your PSP. Footage will automatically be optimized for the PSP’s display; alternatively, if you have Wi-Fi access, you can operate the Torne with a remote control and watch streaming content on your PSP.

The Sony Torne will be shipped to the stores in Japan in March 2010 with a price tag of 9,980 yen ($109).
