HP is the first major PC maker to ship USB 3.0 spec Envy 15 notebooks

A new major feature that is included in the USB 3.0 is the SuperSpeed bus, which provides a fourth transfer mode at 4.8 Gbit/s and the specification considers it reasonable to achieve 3.2 Gbit/s after protocol overhead. Almost 17 devices with USB 3.0 support have been announced at the CES 2010 last week which include various companies like ASUS, Fujistsu, Western Digital, and more. The USB 3.0 based laptops will transfer the data with a speed up to 5Gbps which is far more times better than the USB 2.0. It takes only 3.3 seconds to transfer 1GB of data when compared to USB 2.0 which takes almost 33 seconds.
The announcement from HP makes it the first PC maker among the rest to release USB 3.0 support based Envy 15 notebooks. According to a spokesperson from HP report to CNET that the HP online store will sell the Envy 15 with USB 3.0 interface support while the notebook is featured with ATI HD 5830 graphics and a quad-core i7 Intel processor.
You will soon see the USB 3.0 interface on the other HP business notebooks which include the 8540p and 8540w. ASUS are in the move to ship the notebooks with USB 3.0 support by the end of this month, according to the reports from CNET.
