VIA Technologies Unveils Industry’s Fastest USB 3.0 to SATA Controller

As the CES 2010 is coming closer and only one day is left, more number of products are being added by the companies to exhibit at the show. Now, VIA Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, to show VIA VL700 USB 3.0-SATA Controller at CES 2010 adding to the list of USB 3.0 gear which it claims that it is the industry’s fastest device so far. The VIA VL700 USB 3.0-SATA controller is a highly integrated single chip solution that lets end users connect SATA hard disk drive (HDD), solid state drive (SSD), and optical disc drive (ODD) devices to the PC through the USB 3.0 specification ports.
The USB 3.0 controller is so called as SuperSpeed USB because of its faster data transfer support up to 5Gbps and it gives ten times the throughput over USB 2.0 devices which allow the data to be transferred to a PC at a faster rate. The device is even compatible with SATA 3Gbps and 1.5Gbps transfer rates and also Native Command Queuing (NCQ). The end users can even transfer the data from DVD and Blu-ray drives attached to USB 3.0 ports.
In the words of Richard Brown, the Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies, says that, “As the storage capacity of hard drives increases, the need for better data transfer technology arises.” “SuperSpeed USB offers a big leap forward in transfer speeds and the VIA VL700 gives PC users a way to apply this performance advantage to their existing SATA storage devices.”
