DirecTV set to release 3D HD channel in 2010

Watching 3D content is not limited to theatres itself, through DirecTV it is made available 24/7 and the same can be enjoyed directly from your home. DirecTV is set to launch the first US 3D HDTV channel and is due to release in the early 2010. The satellite TV provider will announce the 3D HDTV channel at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) scheduled to be held at Las Vegas on January 7th.
DirecTV has planned to launch a satellite into orbit, which will be fully operational in March 2010 and broadcasts movies, sports and programs in 3D lives up to 3D standards set by the major TV manufacturers.
According to sources, it is said that the 3D content can be viewed through HD Guru DirecTV’s HDTV boxes by just upgrading it with a firmware update to its existing subscriber base. The HD 3D programming can be experienced by 3D capable HDTVs which are expected to be introduced at CES from Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Sony, Samsung, LG and other TV makers.
End users who would like to experience the 3D feel must have 3D supported HDTVs along with compatible 3D glasses.
