Notion Ink has given a name to its much hyped tablet device boasted with exciting specs, as Adam. The Adam is conceptualized and designed in Hyderabad and Bangalore, is given life by seven Indians which include six IITians and an MBA graduate to make its foray into the Complete Product Development market. The Adam will be show cased at the Las Vegas CES (Consumer Electronics Show) scheduled to be held on January 7-10, 2010. In terms of its creators, the Adam is quoted as, “It is a ‘smartpad,’ small enough to be carried anywhere and big enough to do anything.”

The 0.6-inch thick Adam weighs just 770 grams, has a 10.1-inch scratch-resistant touch screen. It is claimed to be the first device to feature Pixel Qi display, a low-cost, power-saving screen that can operate in three modes, LCD mode, Trans-reflective mode and e-paper mode. The screen is made up of fingerprint-resistant oleophobic (oil repelling) and anti-glare coating.

Going into details of its specs, the Adam is powered with NVIDIA Tegra T20 chipset, Lithium-ion battery which lasts long up to 48 hours standby, eight hours of high definition video playback or 16 hours of Internet surfing over Wi-Fi. Adding to the above, it has ambient light and proximity sensors, accelerometer, assisted GPS, digital compass, built-in speakers, loaded with Flash memory (16 or 32 GB) and an Secure Digital (SD) card support. Coming to its connectivity, it includes USB, HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack and a microphone input, and a 3 MP autofocus camera with video recording support.

Notion Ink is approaching the telecom providers of India and the U.S. to test the 3G connectivity of the device. To your surprise, the device will be available at just $321 (Rs.15,000) when it reaches the U.S., European and Indian markets six months from now in June, 2010.
