Motorola DROID sold 100K handsets in Opening Weekend

Google’s Android OS is the talk of the Smartphones as every device maker opted it has the OS to run in their Smartphones. Motorola Droid which had its launch recently on Verizon has a tremendous response from the mobile users. Motorola DROID is proved that it is worth to what you pay and amazingly to everyone’s surprise 100,000 handsets have been sold out in the opening weekend, according to Bloomberg reports. Verizon initially had 200,000 DROID handsets at hand and they were amazed with the response that truly depicts the real image of Motorola in the mobile users. Analysts estimate that millions of more devices will be sold out in Q4 2009.

Analysts predict that Motorola Android Smartphones would reach 10 million users in 2010 whereas Apple is expected to sell 8 million iPhone in Q4 and 28.5 million in 2010. Motorola is competing with the iPhone which is declared to be top in the market. But lot more to come out to win the race against iPhone as these numbers are one tenth of the first gen Apple phone sales two years ago. The price of the DROID is higher than the 16GB iPhone 3GS which you can get for $199 without any rebate where as the DROID comes for the same $199 with a $100 mail-in rebate. But the network problems posed by the iPhone with AT&T 3G which drop the calls amid your communication are a bit of concern and if the DROID can offer the service better than the iPhone, users would prefer DROID as a choice.
For a mobile user, what matters at the end is how good the service is. If you can give what the customer wants and win the accolades, you will be conquered by them.
