Verizon There s a Map for That commercial 540x301 AT&T sues Verizon over “misleading” 3G ads

The ad “There’s a map for That” which has been on air for quite some time now by the Verizon Wireless, which is jointly owned by Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group Plc has created a trouble for the AT&T. The ads Apple delivers for its iPhone “There’s an App for That” has been intended at by the Verizon and it has been disingenuous and caused to lose immeasurable market share. AT&T fell 1% to $25.34 in up to date trading, while Verizon fell 1.2% to $29.05.

The ads show maps of the United States that emphasize areas where 3G also known as third generation, connectivity is obtainable, marking with red the areas for Verizon’s coverage and with blue the areas for AT&T’s one, leaving blank regions for the parts of the country where 3G is unavailable. The white spaces in fact specify where AT&T does not have 3G wireless access. It doesn’t point out that AT&T has no wireless coverage. In fact, in the majority parts of the country, AT&T has a 2.5G Edge network.

Nevertheless, AT&T argued that its consumers can “fully make use of their wireless devices outside of a ‘3G’ coverage area. They undisputedly have coverage in areas depicted by white or blank spaces on the maps used in Verizon’s ads.” According to AT&T, the maps are ambiguous as they propose regular coverage even in areas where the 3G coverage is not available. The AT&T has filed a lawsuit in the U.S as those ads have caused and persist to cause irretrievable damage to the company and has asked for momentary limiting order. We will hope this strong rivalry finally leads to better services, cooler devices, and lesser prices. However, we have to just wait and see. Right now, it just looks like a conflict of words.
