garminaera500 sb Garmin brings out GPS solutions for Car and Aircraft

Garmin which is one of the leading names in GPS market introduced its GPSMap 696 a year ago; it has now unveiled its most recent GPS offer that can go from car to the airplane. The products of this are mostly for categories like land, sea and air oriented devices. The features and capabilities are alike but this “aera” line will have something new. As with earlier portables, the aera products will have a complete series of navigation competence, plus XM WX weather, XM audio, Garmin’s SafeTaxi ground alertness attribute, and the AOPA Airport Directory.

The GPS series includes four models, the aera 500, 510, 550, and 560 devices. The pricing would initiate with the aera 500 costing $799 and topping out with the full-featured aera 560 pricing $1,999. They are provided with 5GHz update for almost real-time GPS page updates. The aviation page the devices use offers topography and obstacle data along with private airport data.

The 510 and the 560 models have access to XM satellite radio, but require an elective DC adapter with an incorporated antenna. Each outward appearance differs from one another as they run with divergent software and both are water resistant to IEC 529 IPX-7 standards. The 550 and 560 have additional features like the faster terrain and obstacle refresh data. They share the same appearance feature including a 4.3-inch screen that is touch susceptible and sunlight readable. The devices are designed to allow pilots to use them once they get to their destination in the car.
