Hitachi announced its two new fast hard disk drives namely the Ultrastar 15K600 and the UltraStar C15K147 which specifically aimed at enterprise storage applications. The two drives spin at 15,000 RPM speeds and possess a MTBF rating of 1.6 million hours.

The Ultrastar 15K600 is available in 300GB, 450GB and 600GB multiple storage capacities with a 3.5-inch form factor is added with a 33% more storage space when compared to its predecessor and claims to be the highest driven capacity fast drive for enterprise level. The 15K600 consists of 6Gb/s SAS or 4Gb/s FCAL interfaces, provides the reliability and performance required for I/O-intensive applications–such as business processing, decision support, online transaction processing and multi-user applications. Additionally the drive uses a larger 64MB cache for more beneficial performance.
