Lexar have announced the new JumpDrive SAFE S3000 FIPS enterprise-class USB flash drive which is FIPS 140-2, Level 3-validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to offer secure data access like never before.

Co-developed with Gemalto, these JumpDrives feature Smart card-based security with an AES 256-bit hardware encryption. They also offer waterproof composite metal housing that meets military 810-F waterproof standards!

The JumpDrive SAFE S3000 FIPS is available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities and prices range from $99.99 to $269.99.

There is also an option to get the JumpDrive SAFE S3000 without the FIPS 140-2, Level 3-validation but still having smart-card security and AES 256-bit hardware encryption, which is available in up to 16GB. These highly-secured USB flash drives are compatible with Mac as well and are expected to be available in Europe in 2010.
