Much awaited Microsoft Windows 7 will be available on October 22. Like in Windows Vista, there’s a simple, one-line command that you can utilize, to activate an additional 30 days to your initial 30-day trial of the Operating System (OS). Officially, the trial period lasts for 30 days, but a loophole has been found in the Windows 7 verification process that will allow computer users to “reset” this clock up to three times at the end of each 30-day period, thus extending the trial to a total of 120 days.

Thankfully, there’s a simple way to bypass this, and thankfully it doesn’t even go against Microsoft’s Terms of Service (ToS). If you download Windows 7 in October for the 30-day trial run.

Users must first pull up a command line by going the Start menu, selecting All Programs, then Accessories, then Command Prompt. Using a “Microsoft-supplied utility called the Software License Manager once the Command Prompt appears, users must type “slmgr -rearm”, without the quote marks. Once the computer is rebooted, the activation calendar will have been reset to zero, giving users another 30 days of free use.

Windows 7 supports the latest advances in PC hardware, like 64-bit computing and multi-core processors, and improved memory utilization helps your hardware reach its full performance potential. If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here’s what it takes:

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
