TomTom unveiled Portable GPS for iPhone 3G and 3GS

After years of rumor and speculation, TomTom, a leading manufacturer of navigation systems in Europe has finally ready to deliver their app through the Apple iTunes App Store which offers you the turn-by-turn driving instructions for the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS.
The TomTom GPS app is powered with IQ Routes technology, which bases its routes on the real experience of its millions of Tom Tom drivers in order to calculate the fastest route and generate the most accurate arrival times which helps drivers in reaching their destination up to 35% of the time.
Additionally, the drivers are informed in advance about the safety cameras which are on their route with the in-built database of safety camera about 11 European countries in TomTom app, and let you save your money from fines. The app is designed for several countries including US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and several countries in Europe. Apart from that the TomTom navigator features automatic re-routing, turn-by-turn navigation including the 2D and 3D viewing modes and can save points of interest for easy accessibility.

As for the country specific pricing, you can get it in New Zealand for $90, Australia for $74, UK and Ireland for $99, US and Canada for $99 and in Western Europe for $132. The above price is not included with the TomTom iPhone car kit which has its own GPS receiver can charge your iPhone 3G or 3GS comes with a speaker and microphone. Though the price of the car kit is not revealed yet, it is rumored to be available at $168 in the UK along with bunched up mapping software and the mount for an excess of $69.
Recombu who had a first hand experience on the software said that the TomTom app gets disconnected when you get a call, and restarts as soon as the call is ended. TomTom adds that the car kit dock will also work with iPod Touch and third-party apps with a faster GPS chip.
