Samsung Starts Making 40-nanometers 2GB DDR3 RAMs

Samsung announced that it will produce it’s first two gigabit DDR3 RAM chip using their 40nm process. These chips samsung 40nm 2gb ddr3 Samsung Starts Making 40 nanometers 2GB DDR3 RAMsprovides 60% increase in production productivity when compared with its previous 50nm process.
Samsung will offer upto 4 GB for unregistered DIMMs,for work stations and desktop PCs or small outline DIMMs for notebooks and most advanced low power 4-16GB RDIMMs for servers. DDR3 RAM chip supports date rate up to 1.6Gbps which is double the speed of 1Gb chips.

As said by the market research firm iSuppli, 2Gb DDR3 RAM chip will become prominent product by 2010. The price of the chip and the expected date of release is not known yet, but good thing is that the chip comes pre-installed in computer.
