Rumors: Acer F1 and Android based A1 Snapdragon smartphones coming this September
If the current rumors are to be true, Acer will launch four of its smartphones named, A1, C1/E1, F1 and L1 at the end of September and in the fourth quarter. According to All About Phones who reportedly attended an Acer event recently held in Netherlands, unlike TG01’s CPU, Acer F1’s processor will only run at 800MHz, not at 1000MHz. Inventec, a Taiwan based ODM(Original Design Manufacturer) are producing the C1/E1 as an ODM design, while Compal will be producing the ODM for L1 and the OEM for F1 and A1.
The new smartphone F1 will have ATI graphics and an Acer Suite 2.0 UI, a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen, a 1Ghz Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera accompanied with flash and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the phone. The front controls are touch-sensitive, along with a front-facing camera for video calls, GPS, WiFi and support for up to 7.2Mbps HSDPA.
There is not much info on other handsets apart from L1 which have have a 2.8-inch touchscreen display and will be a slider. The handsets C1/E1, L1 and F1 will be using Windows Mobile 6.5 platform while A1 smartphone will be using Google’s Android OS. A1 will be Acer’s first smartphone to be working on the google Android platform.
The complete specs and price of the devices are not revealed yet, while the smartphones may start shipping by the end of September.
