Apple Tablet tipped for October release, priced at around $800
According to a recent report on China Times, Apple Tablet or netbook will be available in the market as early as October this year with a price tag of around $800. The paper reports that the Taiwanese high-tech supply chain companies have claimed that Apple will debut its first netbook in October so as to keep itself strong in the Christmas holiday season which till now is a boon to many electronics companies.
The paper says that the manufacturing companies Foxconn, Wintek and Dynapack have already received direct orders from Apple for various hardware parts. Infact Wintek was reportedly shipping its touchscreen panels for use in Apple Tablets.
Though the news has popped out from a strong source like China Times we still believe it to be suspicious, especially the one with the pricing. With a high price of $800 for a touchscreen netbook, Apple may be eying for premium position to avoid direct competition with Asus and acer whose touchscreen netbooks are available as low as $500.
Before these rumors also, Apple Tablet was speculated to make an appearance at WWDC, but that did not happen. We have to wait for some more days till Apple officially announces its release plans of its Tablet PCs. Meanwhile Apple’s new iPod range will be arriving in September, so maybe Apple’s tablets may just arrive in October as per rumors to take Christmas holidays with a bang.
