Acer announces Veriton N260G nettop based on N280 Atom processor
Acer has announced a second version of Veriton N260G nettop which will feature latest version of Atom processors, the N280. The N260G looks almost similar and uses the same chasis to that of Acer’s previous version of nettop, Acer AspireRevo. The N260G has got the same small sizes as its predecessor but a slightly different color scheme and diamond-shape.
The Acer Veriton N260G replaces those 1.6GHz Atom 230 or 330 processors in AspireRevo with a far better 1.66GHz Atom N280 leaving aside NVIDIA Ion Graphics chip. Instead, it uses Intel’s GN40 Express chipset with GMA X4500 graphics chipset which gives better performance than those Nvidia Ion chips.
The N260G nettop also features 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, HDMI/VGA ports, Audio In/Out and PS/2, 6 USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, Memory Card Reader and oodles of Acer software. The nettop can be connected to LCD displays through the VESA mount. Windows Vista is pre-installed in this nettop with an option for upgrading it to Windows 7 Professional.
The Acer Veriton N260G nettop is already broadly available in the UK and Europe, where it can be found for £188.12 ($302) including delivery or equivalent of about $300 US.
