Samsung intros new Spinpoint N3U hard drive

Samsung introduced a new hard drive in its lineup that is nothing but Spinpoint N3U hard disk. There are already several kinds of hard drive in the market but to distinguish this N3U, Samsung attached a native USB controller in N3U and the Spinpoint N3U stores 125GB of data on each platter. It has been featured by a 1.8″ 3600 rpm available in 120GB, 160GB, 200GB and 250GB with 8MB of cache memory.
Another useful and important feature it has that it consumes minimum energy approximately 40% less power than the standard 2.5-inch hard drives and provides efficient performance and there is no additional requirement of a bridge that converts PATA interface into a USB interface as the drive itself combines USB controller.
Choel-Hee Lee, vice president of Marketing storage System Division, Samsung Electronics, stated “The new high capacity 1.8″ 250GB drive enhances Samsung’s product offerings and is ideal for consumers who require a small form factor, high capacity data storage. It is easy to carry around and it is designed to withstand a free fall drop of up to 50cm and be resistant to a maximum shock incident of up to 1500G.”
The Spinpoint N3U hard drive will be cost around $199 and will be shipping from mid-July onwards with 250GB model.
