Panasonic unveils 85-inch Full HD Plasma Display, to ship this fall

Panasonic has announced a 85-inch Full HD Plasma TV at the InfoComm 09 event.

The 85-inch display features 1080p resolution, 16:9 Aspect Ration, contrast ratio of 40,000:1(max. upto 2,000,000:1) which Panasonic claims to be world’s highest and effective viewing area of 1,889 mm (W) x 1,062 mm (H) big enough to show a person in full size when installed vertically. The display measures only 99 mm in thickness. It is 30 mm thinner, about 30 percent lighter per square inch and about 40 percent lighter than Panasonic’s 103-inch displays, at a total weight of 130 kg.

The Panasonic 85-inch display will be available through business channels in US and Japan this fall. There is no word on the pricing as well as the model name.
