Apple announces New iPhone 3G S, Makes it more faster
Apple today at WWDC announced its next generation iPhone called as iPhone 3G S, where “S” stands for speed. The looks are almost similar to the iPhone 3G which was released a year back at WWDC 2008. But the new iPhone is twice as fast as the iPhone 3G, has got larger storage options, HSDPA support, better camera and longer battery life. All packed in the same price as the previous version, iPhone 3G.
The system memory has been doubled to 256MB, the CPU now runs at 600MHz and the data speeds are upped to 7.2Mbps HSDPA.
iPhone 3G S has been upgraded with 3 megapixel autofocus camera supporting 30fps VGA video recording with auto lighting and editing features.
The iPhone 3G S comes with iPhone OS 3.0 and comes with over 100 additional features including access to more than 50,000 applications from Apple’s revolutionary App Store. Users can now tether the iPhone to PC or Mac on 22 carriers worldwide. Unfortunately tethering option is not available in AT&T.
It has got a better battery offering 5 hours of 3G talk time and 9 hours of WiFi internet use.
There is another feature called “Find my iPhone” which can track your iPhone if you have lost it some where. This is a good addition and can prevent theives from snatching your iPhone. When this feature is activated you can message your iPhone with a number to call or you can also remotely erase all of the data on the phone if you have any secure information on the phone.
iPhone 3G S offers twice the capacity for the same price with a 16GB model for just $199 and a new 32GB model for just $299 and is available in black and white colors. These models will be available on sale on June 18th in US and July 9th in the rest of the world. if you are current iPhone user and are under contract then you have to pay little more to upgrade to iPhone 3G S, probably $299 for the 3G and $399/$499 for the 3G S.

iPhone 3G S will be available in the US on June 19 for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model and just $299 (US) for the new 32GB model in both Apple and AT&T’s retail and online stores, Best Buy and Wal-Mart stores. iPhone 3G S requires a new two year contract with AT&T for qualifying customers. iPhone OS 3.0 software will be available on June 17 as a free software update via iTunes 8.2 or later for all iPhone customers. iPod touch customers will be able to purchase a software update for $9.95 (US). Beginning June 8, iPhone 3G will be available for just $99 (US) for the 8GB model. New MobileMe features for iPhone require iPhone OS 3.0.
