A ultimate and awesome computer game, the Tetris has completed 25 years and celebrating silver jubilee anniversary. The game was innovated by Alexey Pajitnov, a computer engineer who was working for the Computing Center of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. The copy of this game has been sold near about 70 million.

Tetris is one of the most identified games of all video game history. A process of uniting a series of mathematical puzzles and diversions has made the concept of the game Tetris. The Tetris name was created by combining two words, “tennis” Alexey Pajitnov’s favorite game and the Greek prefix “tetra”. The game was first made for IBM computer but didn’t get popularity until it was come on Nintendo’s Game Boy handled console in 1989. It has been sold around more than 35 million copies.

Pajitnov moved to US in 1991 and finally started earning money from his game after the rights reverted back to him in 1996. It is the best selling cell-phone game and top 10 iPhone apps. In 2007, video game website IGN named it the second best game followed by Super Mario Bros.

Pajitnov is continuing to design games today. His puzzler game Hexic was packaged with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Premium Bundle at the console’s launch. Mr. Pajitnov said to Guardian newspaper that

“I started to put together all kinds of mathematical puzzles and diversions that I had loved all my life.

“The program wasn’t complicated. There was no scoring, no levels. But I started playing and I couldn’t stop.

“I think that most of the classic games written in the 80s or early 90s are dead just because their authors or owners didn’t care about them”

The craze of this game remains in every mind till now. Finally we can say it would be celebrating Golden Jubilee after 25 years. Let see what happens and continue to enjoy this game.
