Android Handsets on ASUS

Some days back Google invited ASUS computers to join Open Handset Alliance(OHA). Now ASUS has went even forward to this by announcing their plans to launch Android Handsets in first half of 2009. Sources from ASUS said that initially these Android handsets will be available only in Taiwan markets under its own brandname ASUStek. The also said that they will be releasing customized models for overseas client later.

Another source from company also said that they will be phasing out Ericsson Mobile Platform(EMP) based handsets and switch to handsets from Qualcomm and Marvell. This is an interesting move as both Qualcomm and Marvel aremembers of Open handset Alliance while Ericsson is not.
